Nindya Bucktowar

Nindya is a multi-disciplinary artist who experiments with clay and mixed media to create installations inspired by natural and urban landscapes. She specialises in topographical ceramic sculpture as a medium for space-making to create and immersive experiences of objects in space. The realisation of her technically and conceptually complex work is made possible through her cumulative experience in art, science and architecture.

Nindya graduated with a Bachelor in Architectural Studies at the Nelson Mandela University in 2013. She lectures at the Architectural Department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She currently runs her own multi-disciplinary design practice and ceramic business. She is the director at NT Design Studio, NT Leather and Kalki Ceramics.  

Newman is now mostly involved with stills photography, participating in a number of group exhibitions; was a finalist in the Hopper Art Prize 2020; shortlisted for the Zeiss Photography Award in 2017 and won the Infecting the City photography competition.

Newman is currently working on her first photography book, developing a number of new photographic bodies of work. She is also completing a feature length documentary film on theatre playwright and director, Brett Bailey.
