FirstRand recognised as SA's best bank by Euromoney

FirstRand has recently been recognised by Euromoney as South Africa’s best bank. In its Awards for Excellence 2021 announcement release, Euromoney described FirstRand as a highly profitable lender and digital leader. It also highlighted the group’s deposit base, which grew above the industry average in 2020.

Euromoney further motivated this accolade by stressing that FirstRand remains the most profitable and the highest valued of South Africa’s banks, with a return on equity of 13% in 2020. In the 2019/2020 financial year, RMB’s results reflected the strength of the corporate and investment banking franchise and its underlying businesses’ contribution to the group’s success by growing its pre-provision operating profit by 14%.
