Batha was born in Vienna, Austria and emigrated to South Africa in 1969. He studied at the Vienna Graphic School ACD and the Oskar Kokoschka Private School in Salzburg – specialising in reproduction, stone engraving and painting. He currently lives and works in Johannesburg.
Batha is a prolific painter, known for his vibrant colours and diverse techniques. He paints in all mediums – oils, gouache, watercolour, pastel and acrylics. His style ranges from super realistic to loose, free style expressionism. He paints landscapes, flowers, still lifes, portraits and people.
