Isaah Mhlanga

Chief Economist, RMB

Biography

Isaah has more than 15 years of industry experience spanning both the public and private, asset management and investment banking sectors.  

He started his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Pretoria and then moved to the National Treasury’s economic policy unit.   

His private sector experiences spans roles as an economist at Absa Capital and then RMB, where he was responsible for macro-economic strategy and forecasting before he joined Alexforbes as the Executive Chief Economist.   

Isaah returned to RMB in 2023 to head up the Global Markets Research unit and take on the Chief Economist role.  

Isaah has experience in analysing and translating macro-economic, economic policy and financial market insights into asset allocation, investment decisions, and corporate strategy. He serves on President Ramaphosa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) since 2024.
